I went on a mini cruise on the Balmoral to Honfleur and St Peter Port.
It was the first time on the Balmoral, and the worries that I would find the ship too large compared to the rest of the Fred.Olsen fleet were unfounded. The service that we received was very slow on the early sitting, and the staff apologised for this (although it didn't improve at all) I even had to leave before the main course as I had to go to bed having worked the previous night shift.
The rooms are quite spacious, and altough we were based under the promenade, we weren't too aware of people walking above (room number 6063)
Unfortunately it was too rough to go to St Peter Port, as you have to use a tender, but the captain managed to take us to Cherbourg instead
I do tend to find on the mini cruises that the average age is much lower than normal, and there does tend to be large groups of youngsters on hen or stag weekends, altough they aren't rowdy
Overall it was a great trip, but were delayed getting off as the Dover Harbour ramp was not working
