My sister and I who are in our early sixties went on our first cruise on 4 July 2008 until 11 July 2008. We chose the Norwegian Fiords, as we both had only heard about the land of the midnight sun and never experienced how light it would be at 11.45 in the evening; to see the sun setting across the ocean is spectacular, also the scenery around the fiords was equally unforgetable. The cabin was an inside one, but it was very nice just like any hotel room, our own walk in shower and vanity washbasin and toilet, beds made each morning and pulled down each night with a chocolate left on each pillow, what a way to retire to bed. The food was everything I had been told it would be by friends who have been on cruises, everything for anyone to choose from no matter what time of day or night. The strict cleanliness each time guests entered the dining rooms where the waiters would be standing by the doorway with handwash foam to cleanse your hands, and also each time you left or entered the ship the same routine, hand wash always ready. The entertainment was fabulous, just as good as some West End shows and Broadway shows, each presentation each night from very talented singers and dancers. My only regret is myself and my late husband Albert never did cruise, we had lovely foreign holidays near and far each year, but I know that my husband Albert would have loved it if we had done it years ago.

We were also on this cruise and would thoroughly agree with the comments made. We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary on board and Fred Olsen made this an amazing day for us, which we will remember for a long time. We enjoyed it so much we have booked a 40 night cruise for next year, along with another couple who were first time cruisers. We are generally fans of P&O having taken three cruises on the Arcadia, but the last one in May was certainly not as good as previous ones.
