Fred Olsen Cruise BL011 02/06/08 MS BALMORAL
Amuch larger ship than normal for Fred Olsen and the coordination of activities, especially entertainment needs a bit of refinement - steel bands and a classical trio performing at the same time within earshot of each other was not to be desired nor a bridge group dominating the entire card room for the whole cruise but despite these complaints a superb ship and a great cruise. The Morning Light pub seemed bare and a waste of a good lounge and the smoking areas should be reduced but the comfort, service and cleanliness were up to usual FO standards.
The cruise destinations were great especially when Tunis was replaced with Messina. Naples was an interesting stop although one had to be a bit wary and Malta was not terribly inspiring for the third time but Corfu, Brindisi, Dubrovnik and Venice all had their special charms, especially the latter two. Our trip was linked to a Bath Travel package including 2 days in Rome and return via Orient Express which made the holiday something extra-special.
