And now I'll add a little more, as my booking confirmation has just arrived. Despite Olsen's website firmly asserting that smoking is permitted on balconies, according to my confirmation it is not.
I am unamused; up to date brochure/website errata and updates are supposed, under Trading Standards law, to be advised at the time of booking. Not once a deposit has been paid, and a booking confirmed.

I'll add a little to the previous reply, as I've done very recent research. After the world cruise is complete (in, I believe May), smoking is permitted on balconies, on parts of the outside deck, in the Observatory Lounge, and in the Lido Lounge.

Currently No smoking in restaurants or cabins. Smoking areas are available around the ship. Smoking is only permitted on deck in UK ports. Like all cruise companies this is a subject always under review after the fire last year on a cruise ship directly caused by someone discarding a cigarette.
